Saints nab Spags
The New Orleans Saints saw defensive coordinator Gregg Williams bolt for the Rams and his good friend, Jeff Fisher, but the Saints didn't take long to fill the vacancy with a quality coach.
It's a great move for the Saints, because Spagnuolo is one of the NFL's top defensive minds. He didn't have a great run in three years as the Rams' head coach, where he had only one winning season. But Spagnuolo's defensive coaching credentials are unquestioned, and he'll provide a seamless transition for a Saints' team that has been generally good on defense but not nearly up to the standards of their explosive offense.
