The week's strangest NFL-related media news came Tuesday with word that owners had passed a resolution that allows teams to be forced into appearing on HBO's "Hard Knocks" in the absence of volunteers.

There are exemptions for teams that have made the playoffs at least once in the previous two seasons, that have a first-year head coach and that have participated in the previous decade.

So the coach least likely to agree to allow cameras into his world, the Patriots' Bill Belichick, appears safe. But what about the Giants, who unless they make a coaching change figure to be eligible in 2014?

Team president John Mara voted against the resolution, no surprise given that in 2010, he famously told the Daily News the Giants would be on the show "when I'm next to my father in Gates of Heaven cemetery."
