I would have gotten to this item about Braylon Edwards much sooner, but was unexpectedly interrupted by some unfortunate news about ... Braylon Edwards.

Anyway, as Edwards awaits his arraignment on DUI charges from an incident early this morning, we look back on the one thing he handled well this week. After the Jets' 28-14 win over the Patriots, in which Edwards caught a touchdown pass as well as a two-point conversion attempt, Edwards was asked if he had anything to say about former Jets quarterback Joe Namath. It was Namath who criticized Edwards the previous week for dropping too many passes.

But Edwards deflected the criticism this way:

"Mr. Namath gets a lot of respect from me about the things he’s accomplished in this city. He’s an icon. With that, it’s case closed. I don’t want to talk any more about Joe Namath. He is who he is and he can make comments like that. He's 'Broadway Joe.' Let’s leave it at that. He’ll make his comments and I’ll just play football for the New York Jets and do the best that I can."

And now, we wait ...
