As he prepares to face the Buccaneers in a Week 3 game at Gillette Stadium, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has heaped plenty of praise on Tampa Bay's two newest acquisitions in the secondary: Dashon Goldson and Darrelle Revis.

Both players have been in the news this week, with Goldson appealing a suspension for a hit last week against the Saints and having it reduced to a $100,000 fine, and Revis refuting a report that he’s unhappy with Tampa’s defensive system.

As far as Brady is concerned, though, there couldn’t be two better opponents to go up against. In fact, he said Goldson, who has developed a reputation as a cheap-shot artist, I one of his favorite players.

“Why? Because if I were a safety I’d try to play like him,” Brady said. “He’s a great a player. I played against him last year, always kind of watched him as a 49er and he got his opportunity there after a few years in San Francisco and took advantage of his opportunity. He’s a big part of the reason why that defense was so good last year and then now he’s playing for Tampa, so he’s already made a big impact. He’s a very good player, and practicing against him you see why.”

As far as Revis is concerned, Brady said there isn’t a better cornerback in the NFL right now. And that includes Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who believes he’s No. 1.

“I’ve never played against anyone who is as good as him,” Brady said of Revis. “He’s smart and he sees the whole field. He’s as good as there is that I’ve ever played against, so you just have to be careful when you throw his way because you know he’s going to be close. There’s no one that’s going to be wide open, you’ve just got to make sure you put the ball in a position where only the receiver can catch it.”
