Vick throws for 4 TDs as Eagles rout Redskins
Michael Vick and the Eagles embarrassed the Redskins, spoiling Donovan McNabb's big contract day with a 59-28 victory last night in Landover, Md.
Vick completed his first 10 passes and connected on 20 of 28 for 333 yards with four touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 80 yards and two scores, moving past Steve Young into second place in NFL history for yards rushing by a quarterback.
The Redskins signed McNabb to a five-year, $78-million extension before kickoff, but the six-time Pro Bowl selection threw three interceptions in the first three quarters. Dimitri Patterson picked off two and returned one 40 yards for a TD.
The Eagles (6-3) tied the Giants for first place in the NFC East, two games ahead of the Redskins (4-5). The Eagles are 4-0 when Vick starts and finishes the game.
Coach: No Favre MRI
Vikings coach Brad Childress said Brett Favre is "sore" but has no plans to get an MRI on his right shoulder and should be able to play Sunday against Green Bay. ESPN reported that Favre expected to have an MRI on his right shoulder after feeling pain. But Childress said team trainers spoke to Favre yesterday and didn't think he would need the test.
: "It sounds like it's become a big deal and I do want to apologize for not shaking Josh's hand after the game. I do believe in doing what's right and that was not right.''
Around the league
Chad Pennington's latest right shoulder injury led to his being put on injured reserve, but Chad Henne might be available Thursday night against the Bears, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. Tyler Thigpen is the likely starter after finishing Sunday's win over the Titans, and Miami signed nine-year veteran Patrick Ramsey . . . Panthers rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen (concussion) is uncertain for Sunday against the Ravens . . . Niners tackle Joe Staley (broken leg) is out 4-6 weeks . . . Bengals kicker Mike Nugent is out for the season with a torn ACL.
