Less than a week after assuring Wade Phillips that his job was safe through the rest of the season, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has shown Phillips the door.
After back--to-back blowout losses to the Jaguars and the Packers dropped the Cowboys to 1-7, Jones had enough of the misery and decided to make a change. Jones is expected to meet shortly with the Dallas media to discuss his decision.
He's expected to name offensive coordinator Jason Garrett as the interim head coach.
Phillips finished with a 34-22 record in three-plus seasons as the Cowboys' head coach. He won two divisional championships, but had only one playoff victory to show for it.
