Nathan Smith, 31, of Brookville, Pa. just birdied No. 10 to go 2 under, one shot behind Steve Marino.
Smith got into the Masters by winning the 2009 U.S. Mid-Amateur championship. Word is, he is either going to be present or will participate by phone for media day May 7 for this year's Mid-Amateur, to be held in September at Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton.
