Arjun Atwal gets two birdies to reach par
Arjun Atwal, the only semi-Long Islander in the field--he was born in India but grew as a golfer at Clarke High School and Nassay Community College, bogeyed his first two holes. But he bounced right back, making birdies on Nos. 3 and 7 (the latter is a classic short par 3) and approached No. 8 at par.
Atwal prepared for the Open by playing every day at his home course, Isleworth, with Tiger Woods, then playing practice rounds here at Pebble Beach with Woods.
