Barclays coming to Black in 2012, sources say
Newsday's Albany bureau has confirmed, through sources, that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration has reached agreement to bring the Barclays--the first leg of the PGA Tour's season ending playoffs--to Bethpage Black in 2012 and in 2016.
This will mark a return of pro golf to the site of the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens, which isn't on the USGA's radar right now, but has been in discussions with the PGA of America to bring the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup to Bethpage State Park.
