EDISON, N.J. -- Spectators who have tickets to the canceled final round of The Barclays on Sunday will be able to use them at next year's Barclays at Bethpage Black.

That was the policy announced Friday by tournament director Peter Mele, after PGA Tour official Slugger White said that the event will be reduced from 72 to 54 holes because of Hurricane Irene.

Rather than offering refunds, the tournament listed this plan: Each Sunday ticket can be redeemed for a ticket to any day of the 2012 Barclays, which again will be the first event in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoffs.

It might prove logistically challenging for fans because Bethpage is more than 90 minutes, and two bridges, away from Plainfield Country Club.
