Barnes with pretty chip
Ricky Barnes, who at this time last year was in the lead at Bethpage Black, made up for two bogeys on the first two holes of the day by sinking a chip shot for his second birdie of the day.
With his ball resting on the fringe, just off the lip of the green, on the par-4, 390-yard 11th hole, Barnes delicately tapped the ball and watched as it slowly rolled downhill and found the cup to move on nine-over for the tournament.
