Defending champ Jim Liu advances at U.S. Junior Amateur
Defending champion Jim Liu of Smithtown rallied after a 78 in the opening round of stroke play and shot 70 on Tuesday to qualify for the match play phase of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Bremerton, Wash. Liu will play Nicolo Galleti of Clayton, California Wednesday at 2:39 Eastern Time.
It appears that Matt Lowe of Farmingdale also qualified, although that has not been finalized by the USGA.
