Dickinson leads after first round of Met Assistants
Paul Dickinson of Montauk Downs held the first-round lead at the Met PGA Assistants Championship Tuesday at Bethpage Red. Dickinson shot 4-under par 66, to take a one-stroke lead over Nick Bova of Friar's Head. Many other top local competitors are right in the hunt, too. That group includes Bill Van Orman of Meadow Brook, Matt Dobyns of Deepdale, Joe Chalmers of Engineers, Matt Sita of Nassau Country Club and Danny Balin of Burning Tree, all at 68.
Should be a wild finish on the Red Wednesday. The top 11 qualify for the national assistants championship in Port St. Lucie in November.
