Donald meets Kaymer in World Match Play
Luke Donald will meet Martin Kaymer in the semifinals of the World Match Play Championship Sunday at Casares, Spain, with the No. 1 spot firmly in their sights after the elimination of top-ranked Lee Westwood. Westwood's loss to Ian Poulter in the round of 16 Saturday left him vulnerable at the top of the rankings. The second-ranked Donald struggled against Johan Edfors, going to the 19th hole to win. But he was his consistent best to defeat Masters champion Charl Schwartzel by 2 holes in the quarterfinals. Kaymer, who is ranked No. 3, won two of the last three holes to defeat local favorite Alvaro Quiros by 2 holes in the quarters. Donald or Kaymer will become No. 1 if either wins the tournament. Donald beat Kaymer is the final of the Accenture Match Play in February.
