Evan Beirne wins Met Amateur
Evan Beirne, playing out of Bethpage, won the Met Amateur Championship Sunday, defeating defending champion Cameron Wilson of Connecticut, 7 and 6, in the final at Quaker Ridge in Scarsdale.
Beirne is from Connecticut and is about to enter his senior year at St. John's. He placed second in the Big East Championship this past season. He transfered to St. John's from SMU.
