We'll follow the results today of the Women's Met Open at Glenarbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills. Going into the final round of the 36-hole tournament, Becky McDaid, an assistant pro at Friar's Head in Riverhead, is tied for the lead at 4 under. She is tied with Michelle Dobek of Old Oaks.

Fresh Meadow teaching pro Lynn Valentine, who was runnerup to McDaid at the Massachusetts Women's Open recently, is tied for third at 1 over.

Defending champion Jean Bartholomew of Garden City, the former LPGA Tour player who now teaches at The Creek, is tied for fifth at 2 over, along with Julie Kim of Harbor Links.

McDaid won the 2002 U.S. Women's Amateur, was on a national championship team at USC then played on the Duramed Futures Tour and LPGA Tour. She has a fascinating story, having overcome health issues. The former Becky Lucidi is married to Adam McDaid, the Friar's Head head pro.
