The Islanders announced that you can play golf with current players, coaches and all-time greats in the team’s annual outing. It is a big fundraiser for the Islanders Foundation. It is also a kind of the last big hurrah for the guys, just before training camp starts. The format is like any pro-am—one member of the Islanders organization plays with each group.

It will be Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Bethpage Red. A 1:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Also, check for details on that, and on other outings, in Thursday’s Around LI golf page in Newsday. Watch for an interesting story, too, about a Long Islander who pulled off an amazing golf feat that is said to be a one in 9 million occurrence (or maybe even more rare).
