Jim Liu of Smithtown 1 up in US Junior
Jim Liu, the 14-year-old from Smithtown, is 1 up through 10 holes of his 36-hole match in the final of the U.S. Junior Amateur. He is playing Justin Thomas, 17, of Goshen, Kentucky in the final at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Michigan.
If Liu wins, he will be the youngest player ever to win that prestigious USGA championship, breaking a mark held by a young fellow you might have heard of. Tiger Woods won the Junior Amateur at 15.
