Kestner wins Met PGA Senior title
Darrell Kestner still can play with the best of them. He has long been one of the area's best pros. He has played in the PGA Championship, won the PGA national club pro championship and played in PGA Tour and Champions Tour events. The director of golf at Deepdale Golf Club proved that, at 57, when an event is on the line, he still has all the skill and savvy.
Kestner bogeyed his first hole at Pine Hollow Country Club, then made six birdies the rest of the way to win the Met PGA Senior Championship. He made birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, then made three pars to finish the day and the 36-hole tournament at 5 under par. He edged Charlie Bolling, the Fresh Meadow Country Club pro, by three shots.
