Kyle Brey qualifies for Public Links
Kyle Brey, 15, shot 1-under par through 36 holes on Bethpage Blue Wednesday in a sectional qualifier and made it into the field for the U.S. Amateur Public Links starting June 27 at Bandon Dunes, Oregon.
Brey had shot 150 over 36 holes in the two-day Nassau High School championship that ended Tuesday at Bethpage Red. He helped Farmingdale win the county title.
His older brother Kurt won a playoff over Dave Segot for the second alternate spot in the Public Links qualifier.
The winner of the Public Links is customarily invited to the Masters.
