Learning experience for Jim Liu
Jim Liu shot 6 over par at Chambers Bay, the harder of the two U.S. Amateur courses, and finished his two rounds of stroke play at 8 over. That probabaly won't make the cut for match play (now it's projected as 7-over), but it was an experience for the Smithtown golfer, who recently turned 15. As of right now, he's in the middle of the pack.
Joe Saladino of Huntington (71 in the first round) and Brian Hwang of Hauppauge (first-round 83) are playing in the later part of the field today.
