Phil Mickelson followed one bogey with another at the par-3, 208-yard 17th hole. The bad news is that he lost his tee shot left over the cliff with a slice into Stillwater Cove. The good news is that his flop shot from the left rough got within six feet, and he made a bogey-saving putt to drop to +2.

Playing partners Padraig Harrington (+2) and Y.E. Yang (+4) also bogeyed a hole that figures to be a determining factor on Sunday. So, the marquee group in the morning round is a combined +8 going to the par-5 18th hole, which is their ninth of the day. What they wouldn't give to close the first nine with a birdie opportunity.
