How will Tiger do?

Of course, Tiger Woods can earn his fifth green jacket. "I don't think he's here for his health or anything," Jack Nicklaus said. Yet Woods hasn't won here since 2005, when he was fully prepared and sharp. The prediction: He makes the cut.

Favorites

1 Retief Goosen. Excellent putter, due for another major win.

2 Jim Furyk. Has a good putter and good karma, a hole-in-one in Par 3 contest.

3 Martin Kaymer. Would be top favorite had he not missed cut in Houston last week.

4 Dustin Johnson. Hits it a mile, won last two tourneys at tough Pebble Beach.

5 Ernie Els. Only double winner on PGA Tour in 2010. Problem is he's too obvious a favorite.

Keep an eye on . . .

Matteo Manassero. 16-year-old British Amateur champ from Negrar, Italy is true prodigy.

Don't bet on . . .

Louis Oosthuizen. South African won Par 3 contest, the kiss of death.
