Patriot Golf Day actually will be more than one day. It will be the entire Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 3-6. At many Long Island courses, as well as other clubs throughout the country, golfers will be asked to donate an extra $1 apiece on top of the regular green fee. The additional money goes to Folds of Honor, funding scholarships for children and spouses of military members killed or disabled in the service. Check with your course for information.

Baiting Hollow Club will hold a colorful prelude to Patriot Day this Sunday. Club members will play a tournament with military personnel, who will arrive at the course in Black Hawk helicopters.

In the same spirit, the Tee it Up for the Troops organization will hold an outing on Saturday. Sept. 11 at Long Island National in Riverhead. The group supports veterans and their families. Its website is teeitupforthetroops.com.
