Rittberger is medalist at Met Open qualifier

        Garden City Golf Club pro Bob Rittberger had the best round at a qualifer for next month's Met Open. The qualifier was at Tuxedo Wednesday.

Bob Rittberger of Garden City Golf Club fired a three-under-par 68 to claim medalist honors and lead the field of 156 amateurs and professionals at sectional qualifying for the Met Open Championship sponsored by MetLife held today, July 27, at The Tuxedo Club in Tuxedo Park, N.Y. Fifteen players advanced to the championship, scheduled for August 24 – 26 at Bethpage State Park’s Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
