Larry Scortichini of Baiting Hollow Club parred the first playoff hole and defeated Paul Dickinson of Montauk Downs to capture the Met PGA Assistants Championship Wednesday at Bethpage Red.

Both players finished 36 holes of regulation at 4 under par, setting up an all-East End sudden-death playoff. Each was among the top 11 who qualified to play in the national assistant pros championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla., in November.

Scortichini has done well in numerous regional tournaments in the past 10 years, leading up to the breakthrough victory.
