Bleistein caps win for L. Valley girls
Taylor Bleistein scored the winner on a free position with 2:26 left in the second overtime for No. 4 Locust Valley in a 13-12 win over No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor in the Nassau Class C girls lacrosse semifinals at Denton Avenue Field Tuesday. Bairre Reilly, who scored five goals, scored with one second left in the first overtime to tie the game at 12 and force double OT. Stephanie Lucidi added three goals for the Falcons (12-5). Locust Valley will play No. 2 North Shore at 5 p.m. June 1 at Hofstra in the final. Victoria Kotowski led CSH (11-5) with five goals.
Hauppauge 11, Eastport-South Manor 9: Jennifer Porretto scored the first of three goals in the first overtime to give No. 1 Hauppauge (18-0) the lead for good at 9-8 in the Suffolk Class B semifinals. Lauren Descalzo led the Eagles with three goals, Taylor Ranftle had two goals and four assists, and Porretto had two goals and two assists. Hauppauge will play No. 3 Shoreham-Wading River at 5:30 p.m. June 2 at the Dowling Sports Complex in the final. Dene DiMartino led No. 4 ESM (11-7) with seven goals and Samantha Giacolone made 16 saves.
Shoreham-Wading River 13, Sayville 12: Alex Fehmel scored her fourth goal with 5:33 left to give No. 6 Shoreham-Wading River (11-7) a 13-8 lead in the Suffolk Class B semifinals. Alyssa Pearce added three goals and Jessica Angerman had two goals and three assists. Kimmy Marra and Emily Meier each scored four goals for No. 2 Sayville (15-3).
BOYS LACROSSE
Connetquot 10, Sachem North 9: Craig Kiernan scored the winner with 7:53 left for No. 5 Connetquot (13-5) in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. John Zullo scored four goals, Mike Sclafani had two goals and Kiernan had a goal and two assists. Zach Oliveri made 11 saves. Connetquot will play at No. 1 West Islip at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinals for the third straight year. Brandon Gamblin led No. 4 Sachem North (13-4) with three goals and two assists.
