This certainly wasn't the year Andrew Fenn expected. The Chaminade bowling star had his performance suffer and, eventually, his season shortened by right wrist tendinitis. He had to sit out the final two weeks of his senior season and missed the semifinals. But . . .

As he clutched the CHSAA championship trophy Thursday, "perfect" is how Fenn described the team's season.

The Flyers completed their first undefeated season, rallying late to beat Holy Trinity, 6-3, in the CHSAA final Thursday at Farmingdale Lanes. Chaminade (14-0) toppled 3,550 pins to the Titans' 3,471 to earn its first title since 2009.

Fenn insisted on competing in the championship match, but coach Steve Toner had him bowl a practice round during Game 1 to test the wrist. Meanwhile, Holy Trinity took a 2-1 lead.

Wrist in a brace and a cold compress pack nearby, Fenn entered in Game 2 and his 212 helped spark the team -- proving a tangible and, perhaps, inspirational boost.

"There was no way he wasn't going to give it a shot in the championships," Toner said of his captain, who had a 202 in Game 3. "He'll do anything to win."

John Lindgren rolled a 657 series and Joe Bucaria a 607 to lead the Flyers' 'B' team, which won its three games and outscored Holy Trinity's 'B' squad, 1,810-1,564. Nick Niles, who was named playoff MVP, had a 624 series and Phil Loeschinger a 569 for the 'A' team, which dropped its first two but won the deciding third game, 613-585.

"That's how we've been all year," Lindgren said. "We knew we had to come up big in the third game and we did."

Luis Christie, who was named league MVP, had a 662 series, Sal Rivieccio shot a 594 and Tom Jakubowski a 589 for Holy Trinity (11-4), which had upset defending champ St. John the Baptist in the semifinals.

"This is what I wanted," Fenn said. "We're undefeated and I helped my team win a championship. It's a perfect season."
