Booker's trey at buzzer lifts C. Islip
Ishiah Booker hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift Central Islip over Connetquot, 41-38, Tuesday in Suffolk League II boys basketball.
Connetquot's Casey Baker (20 points) scored six straight points to tie the score at 38 with 11 seconds left. Tim McKenzie had 13 points and 13 rebounds, Booker scored 11 points, and Brandon Hornedo added six points and 11 rebounds for the Musketeers (8-0).
Sachem East 56, Ward Melville 54: Joe Santarpia (18 points) hit a jumper to tie the score at 44 with 12 seconds left for Sachem East (2-6) in League I. The Flaming Arrows, who didn't trail in overtime, hit 10 free throws in the period to seal it.
Solomon Schechter 75, Lake Grove 61: Jacob Katz had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and eighth-grader Cole Eiber added 17 points for Solomon Schechter (4-6) in IPPSAL.
Girls Basketball
Mount Sinai 47, Mattituck 45: Sarah Brand (11 points) hit a three-pointer as time expired for Mt. Sinai (3-10) in non-league. Brand's winning shot came off an inbounds play after Mt. Sinai called a timeout with 3.5 seconds left. Marisa Colacino scored 18 points for the Mustangs, who rallied from a 15-point deficit.
Lindenhurst 48, Whitman 46: Sammy Martinez hit a jump shot with nine seconds remaining to give Lindenhurst a 47-45 lead. Valerie Oyakhilome had 28 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (8-0).
West Islip 46, Half Hollow Hills East 42: Lorraine Hodgson had 10 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals for West Islip (4-4) in League II. Brianna Frame added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Boys Bowling
Chaminade 3, St. Anthony's 0: John Lindgren bowled a 243 in Game 2 of a 653 series and John McCormack had a 560 series to lead Chaminade (11-0) in a 1,197-1,045, 1,131-1,123, 1,060-1,035 win in CHSAA.
Girls Bowling
Middle Country 3, Smithtown 0: Kelly Skalacki bowled a 258 in Game 3 of a 718 series and Amanda Tyrrell rolled a 240 in Game 2 of a 633 series to lead Middle Country (10-2) to a 959-713, 1,020-783, 977-751 win, which clinched the League I title.
