CARTER ABRAHAMS, Portledge
Abrahams reclassified this winter as an eighth grader and reached 1,000 career points with a 24-point game Monday in the PSAA quarterfinal against Waldorf. Coach Brandon Becker said Abrahams is the first eighth grader in state history to reach the milestone.
ADEN-AMIR JONES, Sachem East
With 18 points and 10 rebounds, Jones led No. 8 Sachem East past No. 9 Sachem North on the way to the program’s first playoff victory in school history.
TYRESE EMMANUEL, Wyandanch
Emmanuel’s 27 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals marched No. 8 Wyandanch past No. 9 Bayport-Blue Point. Wyandanch carries a six-game winning streak into Suffolk A quarterfinals after losing its first seven.
BRODY GAZZO, Northport
The Tigers star scored 28 points, including a layup as time expired to force overtime, in a double-OT win for No. 7 Northport against No. 10 East Hampton.
RYAN LEARY, Carle Place
Leary provided one of the most dominant performances of the winter season, setting a program record with 47 points against MacArthur.
MARK REEVES, Glen Cove
For the first time since Todd Johnson in the 1999-2000 season, Glen Cove has a new 1,000-point scorer after Reeves posted a 27-point game against Garden City.
MORELL TONEY, St. Mary’s
His 27 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists helped St. Mary’s take down Holy Trinity.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
KENNEDY ABRAHAMS, Portledge
Abrahams led Portledge to the PSAA semifinal round, scoring 31 of her team’s 37 points in a loss to Long Island Lutheran Regional. She finishes her season with at least 20 points in seven of her eight final games.
ANNA KOHLHOFF, East Islip
She chose no better time to score a career-high 24 points, with 19 points and five three-pointers in the second half, to lead No. 9 East Islip past host No. 8 Islip in the first round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs.
KAYLA LEDERER, East Meadow
With 21 points, Lederer led East Meadow to its 11th win of the season in an overtime victory over Uniondale.
EMILY MCGOWAN and SAMANTHA RICHARDSON, Seaford
McGowan’s career-high 31 points with eight rebounds and six steals against Locust Valley and Richardson’s clutchness from the free-throw line — shooting 4-for-4 inside the final 20 seconds against North Shore — helped Seaford complete an undefeated 12-0 season in Nassau A-I.
GABBY NICOLINI, MacArthur
For the first time in school history according to coach Dave Radke, MacArthur ended the regular season with a perfect 20-0 record. Nicolini made it official with a 24-point game against Jericho.
SAM SCHNEIDER, Syosset
Schneider stands alone in Syosset girls basketball history, scoring 37 points against Uniondale and breaking the program’s career points record (1,399) in the first quarter.
ELIZABETH VITALE, Locust Valley
Her game-high 21 points propelled Locust Valley past Friends Academy into a playoff berth in the Falcons’ final game of the regular season.
