Brown powers Freeport over Massapequa

Jere Brown scored 15 points for Freeport (8-2) in its 51-31 win over Massapequa in Nassau Conference AA-I boys basketball Monday. He scored nine in the Red Devils' 17-2 second quarter. Leondre Simmon had 14 points and seven assists. Ian Walsh led Massapequa (6-5) with seven points.

Long Beach 55, Great Neck South 49: Cedric Coad scored 14 of his 21 points in a 32-24 second half for Long Beach (5-6) in Conference AA-III. Joshua Trone had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Ben Kestenbaum led Great Neck South (8-3) with 23 points.

Lawrence Woodmere 75, Evangel 66: Junior Trent Parrish scored a career-high 29 points with 11 rebounds for Lawrence Woodmere (9-0) in PSAA. Jerome Hayden had 22 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Herricks 47, East Meadow 42: Sophomore Alison Ricchiuti scored a career-high 31 points for Herricks (6-3) in Conference AA-II. Melissa Cohen led East Meadow (4-6) with 16 points.

Great Neck South 51, Long Beach 44: Allison Finkel had 20 points and nine rebounds and Nicole Chaplin had 18 points for Great Neck South (3-8) in Conference AA-III. Kristen Barani led Long Beach (3-8) with 15 points.
