Ryan Creighton of Greenport, who capped a brilliant high school career last winter by becoming Long Island’s all-time leading scorer, abruptly left Franklin Pierce College last week, according to a fine story written by Bob Liepa in the weekly Suffolk Times.

Creighton was on scholarship to the New Hampshire Division II school and had earned a starting position as a freshman. He told Liepa that he was tired of playing basketball and had returned to his Greenport home. Porters coach Al Edwards confirmed to Newsday on Friday night that Creighton had left college, but would not elaborate on the reasons for the decision nor would he speculate on what’s ahead for Creighton.
