Dibble's 39 lead Greenport past S. Island
Sophomore Gavin Dibble scored a career-high 39 points, including a school-record 10 three-pointers, to lead Greenport to an 81-30 win over Shelter Island Wednesday night in Suffolk League VIII boys basketball. Dibble, who shot 10-for-13 from beyond the arc, also had nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Sean Charters added 13 points for Greenport (10-4).
Stony Brook 50, Bridgehampton 34: Sophomore Brandon Odom had six three-pointers for 18 points to lead Stony Brook (11-3) to the League VIII championship. Jerome Washington added seven points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Bridgehampton senior Canaan Campbell (12 points) scored his 1,000th career point.
Hampton Bays 70, Southampton 60: Junior Harry Fotopoulus scored a career-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Hampton Bays (9-5) in League VII. Luke Mercurio added 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Wyandanch 48, Port Jefferson 47: D-dante Freeman stole an inbounds pass and hit a layup with 15 seconds left to give Wyandanch (8-6) a 48-47 lead in League VII. Freeman had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Williams added 11 points, including a layup to cut the Port Jefferson lead to 47-46 with 20 seconds remaining.
Ross 65, Smithtown Christian 48: Hayden Aldredge had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Liam Chaskey had 18 points and eight assists to lead Ross (7-7) to the League VIII win and a berth in the Suffolk Class D playoffs.
Center Moriches 76, Mattituck 53: Maleek Harris had 15 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter and added eight assists and four steals to lead Center Moriches (9-5) in League VII. Maleek's cousin, senior Wayne Harris, scored a career-high 14 points.
Babylon 73, Mercy 57: Nahari Jenkins had 25 points and eight assists and senior Max Demartino had a career-high 13 points, including three three-pointers in a 24-13 first quarter for Babylon (9-5) in League VII. Sophomore Ray Wardell had a career-high 18 points for Babylon.
Pierson 46, Southold 38: Junior Jake Bennett had a career-high 18 points to lead Pierson (10-4) in League VIII. Patrick Sloane added seven points and 12 rebounds, and Sam Miller had six points and 10 rebounds.
Kellenberg 90, Monsignor McClancy 78: Jeremy Arthur had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for Kellenberg (20-2) in non-league.
St. Mary's 74, St. Anthony's 54: Jessie Govan had 21 points and Stephen Milhaven had 20 points and 15 rebounds for St. Mary's in CHSAA. Wilson Molina added 10 points and eight rebounds.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Mattituck 62, Center Moriches 50: Alex Berkoski had all seven of her points in the fourth quarter, including 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, to lead Mattituck (7-5) in League VII. Alexa Orlando had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Lauren Guja added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Takia Plummer led Center Moriches with 17 points, including 13 free throws.
Port Jefferson 45, Stony Brook 42: Courtney Lewis had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Rachel London added 10 points and eight assists to lead Port Jefferson (6-6) in League VIII.
Smithtown Christian 45, Ross 37: Shannon Casey had 20 points for Smithtown Christian (3-9) in League VIII.
Southampton 46, Hampton Bays 30: Paris Hodges had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kesi Goree had 10 points and nine rebounds to lead Southampton (12-0) in League VII.
Long Island Lutheran 83, Staten Island Academy 37: Staci Barrett had 18 points and 12 rebounds and eighth-grader Jenna Silletti had a career-high 13 points to lead Long Island Lutheran (16-5) in non-league.
