Dzus, Islip use big first half to beat Amityville
Terrence Dzus scored 18 of his 23 points in the first half as Islip built a 20-point halftime lead in a 64-49 victory over Amityville Thursday in a Suffolk Class A boys basketball quarterfinal.
Andrew Oberg had 12 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks and Matt McPartland added nine points and 10 assists for the No. 5 Buccaneers (13-6), who led 42-22 at halftime. No. 4 Amityville finished 11-7. Islip will play at Harborfields in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Harborfields 77, Glenn 37: Matt Curry had 26 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks to lead top-seeded Harborfields (17-2) in a Class A quarterfinal. Lucas Woodhouse added 10 assists, six rebounds and two steals for Harborfields. Tony McGee had 12 points for No. 8 Glenn (11-8).
Bayport-Blue Point 63, Kings Park 42: Senior Brandon Mincher had 11 of his career-high 20 points in a 17-6 first quarter and added 10 assists for No. 2 Bayport-Blue Point (16-3) in a Class A quarterfinal. Miles Prendergast scored 20 points and Reid Drzal had 10 rebounds. Sean McCarthy scored 11 points for No. 7 Kings Park (12-7). BBP will meet Miller Place at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals at St. Joseph's (L.I.).
Miller Place 62, Comsewogue 31: Taylor Sowah had 22 points, four steals and two blocks to lead No. 3 Miller Place (16-3) in a Class A quarterfinal. Malcolm Scarlett added 11 points and Brian Campbell had 10. Zach Krischer scored 14 points for No. 6 Comsewogue.Suffolk Class B SEmifinals
Wyandanch 68, Hampton Bays 63: Qualice Jones tied the score with a layup with 45 seconds remaining and followed with a jumper with 10 seconds left to put No. 2 Wyandanch (12-7) ahead for good. Saheam King and Will Hart each had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors. Cameron Booth had 23 points for Hampton Bays (12-7). Wyandanch will take on Center Moriches in the final at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Longwood.
Center Moriches 70, Southampton 56: Jon Ward-Adams had 30 points to lead No. 1 Center Moriches (14-5). Ward-Adams, who has 1,411 points for his career, added 13 rebounds, nine assists and eight steals. Joe Gonzalez had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Center Moriches. D'Angelo Smith had 24 points for Southampton (13-6).

Uniondale 57, Hicksville 32: Goey Charles scored 14 points and Claudy Casseus had 14 rebounds to lead No. 1 Uniondale (16-3), which will face No. 5 Hempstead at noon Feb. 27 at SUNY-Old Westbury. Bolade Akingboye had nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the Knights. John Petrucelli led No. 9 Hicksville (14-5) with 12 points.Baldwin 54, Herricks 39: Donte Howell had 13 points, five assists and five steals to lead No. 2 Baldwin (16-2). Ashanti DePass added 11 points, Dominique Aberdeen had seven points, seven rebounds and six assists, and junior T'Ziah Wood-Smith had six points, a career-high 15 rebounds and five blocks. Shaan Rahi had 14 points for No. 10 Herricks (12-7).
