For Bridgehampton, it was a case of the last Elijah standing.

That happened to be Elijah Jackson, one of three Killer Bees’ starters with that first name. But he might as well have been named Ice. The 6-1 senior, a three-year varsity starter, coolly sank both ends of a 1-and-1 with 11 seconds left to clinch Bridgehampton’s 47-41 victory over Stony Brook Tuesday night in the Suffolk C-D game played at Suffolk CCC-Brentwood.

Jackson, who scored seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter, drew a foul after grabbing a defensive rebound and Bridgehampton leading 43-41. He swished the first and had to wait to shoot the second as Stony Brook called a timeout. “That doesn’t freeze me,” Jackson said with a laugh. “I love that. It was in my head that I had to sink both shots.”

He swished the second one and after Stony Brook missed a hurried three, Jackson, fittingly, scored a layup at the buzzer. “For three years he’s been on this stage,” Bridgehampton coach Carl Johnson said. “Nothing bothers him. He doesn’t feel pressure. I don’t think he even knows what pressure is.”

The Class D Killer Bees (14-6) will face the Suffolk Class B winner Center Moriches (18-3) which defeated Babylon, 71-59, on Friday at Suffolk CCC-Selden at 5 p.m. The Class B Bears are 13-10. Both teams will play in their respective classes’ state regional semifinal next week.

Nykeel Dean led Bridgehampton with 16 points. Elijah Harding had 11 points and Elijah White addedseven points, including a layup for a 42-41 lead that the Bees’ did not relinquish. Seamus Scanlon made four three-pointers and scored 14 points for the Bears, who employed a box-and-one on Jackson.

“We told him there’s a box-and-one on you for a reason,” Johnson said. “You can do other things, like play defense and rebound.”

And make big foul shots.
