Arella Guirantes scored 40 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Bellport defeated Deer Park, 54-42, Monday in the League IV girls basketball opener for both teams.

Guirantes' eight three-pointers tied LayShawna Garrison's 2010 school record, coach Rodney O'Neal said. Guirantes hit 6 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter to help seal it.

Copiague 48, West Islip 42: Ihacinse Grady had 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead Copiague (1-0) in League II. Rachel Hunter scored 20 points for West Islip.

Friends Academy 52, Glen Cove 51: Lindsay O'Sullivan had 24 points and 15 rebounds for Friends Academy in a non-league game. O'Sullivan made a defensive rebound at the buzzer to secure the win. Grace Brady scored 30 points for Glen Cove.

Longwood 51, Bay Shore 47: Charlotte Walker had 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, and Zorria West added 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Longwood (2-2) in a non-league game. Giani Andrews made two free throws with 28 seconds left to put Longwood ahead 50-47. Bay Shore's Victoria Pearce scored a game-high 28 points.

North Babylon 63, Half Hollow Hills West 26: Brianna Jones scored 34 points and had 14 rebounds, five assists and six steals for North Babylon (1-0) in League III.

Farmingdale 44, Roosevelt 30: Sam Huebner scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Farmingdale (2-1) a in non-league game.

Long Island Lutheran 59, Roland (Md.) 42: Boogie Brozoski scored 20 points and had six assists for Long Island Lutheran (2-1) at the Beast of the East Classic in Baltimore.

BOYSRiverhead 55, Newfield 54: Ethan Greenidge scored 19 points and had 13 assists to lead Riverhead (1-0) in League III. Greenidge, a 6-6 forward, scored on a putback with 24 seconds left to give Riverhead a 55-52 lead. Sharron Trent had 17 points and five steals, and Tyrese Kerr added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Waves. Jarell Cowell scored 25 points for Newfield.

Hauppauge 46, West Babylon 45: Nick Fanti hit a three-pointer with 35 seconds left to give Hauppauge its final margin in the League IV opener for both teams. Fanti scored 11 points for Hauppauge.

Half Hollow Hills West 74, North Babylon 63: Kian Dalyrimple scored 30 points to lead Hills West (1-0) in League III.

Deer Park 67, Bellport 64: Princeton Louis scored 20 points and Darien Jenkins added 17 points for Deer Park (1-0) in League IV. Tyler Pierre hit a layup with 36 seconds left to give Deer Park a 67-61 lead. Jaye Bookhart scored 22 points and Nick Dunning added 21 points for Bellport.

Smithtown Christian 55, Pierson 46: Cody Collins had 19 points to lead Smithtown Christian (1-1) in League VIII.

Mineola 49, Island Trees 47: Steven Gessner (24 points) made two free throws with 33 seconds left to give Mineola (1-1) a 48-47 lead in Conference V. Eric Guardado added a free throw with 21 seconds left.

Farmingdale 53, Plainview JFK 48: Sophomore guard Ryan Destime's three-pointer gave the Dalers (3-0) its final margin with a minute left in a non-league game. Destime (10 points) scored seven in the fourth.

Lawrence Woodmere 71, Kew Forest 30: Aidan Igiehon scored all 21 of his points in the first half and he added 14 rebounds to lead Lawrence Woodmere (4-1) in PSAA.
