Hills West's Tobias Harris named Mr. Basketball

Tobias Harris, the Tennessee-bound senior forward from Half Hollow Hills West, Tuesday was named "Mr. New York Basketball," presented annually to the state's top player since 1986 by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.
"It's a most prestigious award because it comes from coaches all over the state," Hills West coach Bill Mitaritonna said. Harris has averaged 25 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in leading the Long Island champion Colts (23-1) into Saturday's state Class AA semifinals at Glens Falls.
Harris is the second Long Island player to win the award. Jason Fraser of Amityville was named "Mr. Basketball" in 2002. Past winners include Kenny Anderson, Stephon Marbury, Felipe Lopez, Elton Brand and Jamal Mashburn.
