Nassau Players to Watch
This week's list remains relatively unchaged with only the difference that another Baldwin player -- Ashanti DePass -- is added after spending time on the bubble. Achraf Yacoubou had perhaps the best game of any player on the list Monday in Long Island Lutheran's come-from-behind win against Curtis from Staten Island.
Dominique Aberdeen, Baldwin, Sr. – Led Baldwin past Uniondale, 60-58, with 16 points. Also had 12 points and 10 assists in a win over Valley Stream Central.
Paris Abrams, Westbury, Sr. – Scored 16 points and put Westbury ahead by three with about a minute left in a 57-54 win over Hewlett. Had 12 points in a two-point win against Elmont.
Bolade Akingboye, Uniondale, Sr. – Had seven points and 10 rebounds in a 44-36 win over Farmingdale and 11 in the two-point defeat at Uniondale.
Marc Augustin, Valley Stream Central, Sr. – Scored 24 points in a losing effort to Baldwin to follow up his strong week a week earlier. He’s averaged 25.8 over his last nine games.
Goey Charles, Uniondale, Sr. -- Led the Knights with 13 points against Farmingdale and had 11 points in the loss to Baldwin.
Brett Cohen, South Side, Sr. – Had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 77-62 over West Hempstead and 14 points, 13 rebounds in a 65-47 victory against Hewlett.
Ashanti DePass, Baldwin, Sr. – Led with 20 points in a comfortable win over Valley Stream Central and had a game-saving block at the final buzzer of the two-point win over Uniondale.
Chauvaughn Lewis, St. Mary’s, Jr. – Averaged 14.5 points in close wins over St. Anthony’s and Holy Trinity.
Leon Taylor, South Side, Sr. -- Finished with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in the Hewlett win. Added 11 points and seven rebounds in the victory against West Hempstead.
Achraf Yacoubou, Long Island Lutheran, Jr. – Spurred Lutheran to a 64-58 win over Curtis from Staten Island on Monday. He scored eight of his game-high 21 points in a 22-11 fourth quarter, including a three-pointer with 4:14 left to put the Crusaders ahead for good in non-league. Also had 10 rebounds.
