Samantha Delaney powers Smithtown East win with 26 points, 16 rebounds
Samantha Delaney had 26 points and 16 rebounds as Smithtown East fought back from a six-point halftime deficit for a 60-55 win over Riverhead in a Suffolk League III girls basketball game Monday.
Jessica Anderson chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds for Smithtown East (5-1), which trailed 30-24 at the half. Sam Dunn led Riverhead with 26 points. Commack 49, Ward Melville 46: Chelsea Schultz had 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead Commack (4-2) in League I. Jackie DelliSanti finished with 10 points.Kings Park 59, Half Hollow Hills West 37: Tiffany Slicklein had eight points and 14 rebounds for Kings Park (4-1) in a League IV victory. Kiera Ahern grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
Mercy 70, Wyandanch 54: Mia Behrens scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lift Mercy (2-2) in League VIII action. Fiona Nuñez added nine points and 12 rebounds.
Long Island Lutheran 62, Albany High School 41: Boogie Brozoski scored 20 points to lead Long Island Lutheran (9-1) in the New Year's Resolution Showcase in Paterson, NJ. Katie Lavelle scored 14 points on 7-for-11 shooting, Evelyn Omemmah had 13 rebounds and Nani Redford had 12 points, six assists and four steals for Long Island Lutheran.
Upper Room 70, Wildwood Catholic 47: Alissa Alston scored 21 points and had 13 assists to lead Upper Room (13-0) in the New Year's Resolution Tournament. Kennethah Harden added 19 points and Itee Brown-Smikle had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Upper Room.BOYS GAMES
West Babylon 61, East Islip 58: Tim Kranz scored 20 points and hit three three-pointers early in the fourth quarter to lead West Babylon (2-4) in Suffolk League IV. Davante Penn had 14 points and 15 rebounds for West Babylon.
Portledge 64, Evangel Christian 44: David Lustberg had 20 points and five assists to lead Portledge (4-4) in non-league action. Kyle Flowers had 18 points, six assists and five rebounds and Reid Certilman had seven points, 11 rebounds and five steals in the win.
