Southold's Liam Walker passes 1,000 points

Senior Liam Walker scored 27 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead Southold (4-0) over Smithtown Christian, 54-32, in a Suffolk League VIII boys basketball game Monday.

The four-year starter also had 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals. "He's everything for us," coach Phil Reed said. "He scores and he sets the tone, he gets out on the break and he has a lot of intangibles. He's usually defending the other team's best player and being a small school and having a kid like that is huge.

"He plays a lot bigger than his height and his basketball IQ is great -- he knows the game in and out."

BOYS BOWLINGHewlett 2, Lawrence 1: Adam Glickman's 300 in the first game was the highlight for Hewlett (6-1) in its 825-680, 633-644, 743-616 win in Nassau Conference V. "He didn't throw the ball great on the 11th shot and the crowd held its breath, but he was able to get the strike," Hewlett coach Nick Paxinos said. "On the 12th shot, he put it right where it needed to be."

Manhasset 3, Roslyn 0: Paul Shin rolled a 237 in both Game 1 and Game 2 and finished with a 705 series to lead Manhasset (5-2) in its 709-380, 674-628, 665-575 Conference I win. Oceanside 3, Freeport 0: Evan Davis had a 257 in the first game of a 631 series to lead Oceanside (6-1) in its 860-620, 783-648, 708-629 Conference V win.Bellmore-Merrick 3, MacArthur 0: Joey Anselmo rolled a 257 in the first game and had a 674 series to lead Bellmore-Merrick (6-1) in its 843-763, 826-816, 765-763 Conference VII win.
