So much for my attempt to spread the wealth and limit my Top 10 list to one player per team. Recent performances make that impossible. There’s much more to Half Hollow Hills West’s success than Tobias Harris. Point guard Tavon Sledge is a vital cog, and his open-court skills and athleticism were on display in two brilliant non-league performances. For high-scoring Longwood, it’s tough to separate the skill set displayed by its backcourt duo of Tajric Boggs and Darien Davis, so Davis joins the list.

Here is this week’s report on the Top 10 players for the annual Sandler Award presented to the most outstanding player in Suffolk. A reminder: This list, presented alphabetically, is just one man’s opinion and is unofficial. Newsday does not participate in the voting for all-league and all-county teams.

Tajric Boggs, Longwood: His nose for the ball was evident in three outstanding games in past week that included impressive rebound numbers for a 5-11 guard. Had 26 points in loss at Baltimore.

Darien Croft, Amityville: Had 22 points in a victory over Westhampton last Friday, but was held to eight points in tough loss to Bayport-Blue Point that knocked Warriors out of first place in League VI.

Darien Davis, Longwood: In four games since my last player ranking, Davis scored 21, 19, 19 and 27. He also had a school-record 16 assists in a victory over Floyd on Tuesday.

Reid Drzal, Bayport-Blue Point: Tough inside player had 14 points and 12 rebounds in big victory over Amityville on Tuesday that moved Phantoms into first place in League VI.

Connor Fedge, Bellport: Scored 20 points with 13 rebounds in Wednesday’s victory over Deer Park and had 21 points and 13 boards in last Thursday’s win over Eastport-South Manor.

Khaleev Ginyard, St. John the Baptist: Spectacular 30-point performance in Tuesday’s CHSAA victory over Chaminade that included a career-best eight three-pointers, most of them contested.

Tobias Harris, Hills West: What a week. Thirty-five points in victory over Sacred Heart (Conn.) at Hoops Hall Classic in Springfield, Mass, on Saturday; 19 in thrilling OT victory over Bishop Loughlin in Big Apple Invitational at Baruch College on Monday; and 32 points in routine win over Smithtown West on Tuesday.

Dantre Langhorne, Greenport: Had 22 points and 11 rebounds in victory over Stony Brook on Tuesday. Picked up a rare triple-double (26 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists) in romp over Ross last Friday.

Matt McLeod, Harborfields: Two big all-around games – 17 points 10 assists, 8 rebounds in win over Sayville on Tuesday and 25 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 7 steals in win over Huntington last Friday.

Tavon Sledge, Hills West: Put on crowd-pleasing show in Big Apple Invitational win over Bishop Loughlin with 21 points, including last five in OT, and several acrobatic layups. Had 27 in victory over Sacred Heart at Hoop Hall Classic last Friday.
