It was pretty clear-cut last season at this time regarding the top team in Suffolk: It was clearly going to be the winner of the much-anticipated Longwood-Hills West AA final. It would have been a great surprise if either team did not reach the championship game. Both did and produced a terrific title game before a crowd of more than 4,000 at Farmingdale State. The Colts won and are hitting their stride now, just in time for the postseason.

However, the AA race is wide open among at least five teams — Hills West, Longwood, Floyd, West Babylon and Sachem East. Others are most certainly in the mix.

Class A might feature a brother vs. brother showdown between coaches Chris Agostino of Harborfields and Jack Agostino of Amityville. Only one more full week of action before the playoffs begin. Enjoy!
