Shaquille Ware scored four of his nine points in overtime as Roosevelt edged Island Trees, 61-55, Thursday in a Nassau Conference A-IV boys game.

Island Trees, which trailed 43-29 after three quarters, outscored the Rough Riders 20-6 in the fourth and took a 49-48 lead late in the fourth on a free throw by Anthony Acevedo.

Roosevelt's Terrance Greer (six points) answered with a free throw with eight seconds left to tie the score and force overtime.

Khalil Wilson had 13 points and 14 rebounds and Jordan Sutton and Robert Sweeney each had 11 points for Roosevelt (11-0).

Acevedo led Island Trees with 12 points.

Smithtown West 54, Newfield 35: Ryan Hickey had 22 points and Eric Joseph had nine rebounds to lead Smithtown West (6-6 League III) to its first Suffolk Class AA playoff berth since 2008.Portledge 49, Knox 31: Zach Pilson had 17 points and eight rebounds and Zach Hescheles had 13 points as Portledge (14-0 IPPSAL) captured the league for the second time in three years.GIRLS BASKETBALL

Copiague 61, West Babylon 57: Ihnacinse Grady scored consecutive layups off steals to give Copiague (10-3) a seven-point lead with 1:36 left in the fourth quarter in League IV. Grady had seven points, 10 assists and 10 steals, including six in the fourth quarter.Calhoun 50, Hicksville 43: Dana Silvester and Danielle Losee each finished with 13 points for Calhoun (6-7) in Conference AA-II.RIFLE

Valley Stream District wins. Dean Rossano won the individual air rifle championship with a 193 and lead Valley Stream District to its eighth consecutive championship. VSD scored 743 to win followed by Garden City second with 722 and Massapequa placed third with a 721.
