Saying Glenn is an experienced squad is a gross understatement - the Knights have 17 seniors on their roster. Yet Wednesday it was the lone sophomore on the team, forward Adan Cruz-Velasquez, who scored his first two varsity goals to lead Glenn past Harborfields, 4-1.

"Adan's got a great nose for the goal," Glenn coach Lou Hanner said. "He just finds a way to the end of the balls."

Cruz-Velasquez was on the receiving end of a pass from Timmy Caputo in the 10th minute to give Glenn the lead.

"I saw the play going along and I knew [where] I had to be," Cruz-Velasquez said. "So I was there in the box and I had to do what a striker does - finish the ball."

The Knights had several scoring opportunities before Cruz-Velasquez scored again on a pass from Caputo in the 30th minute.

Despite playing almost the entire first half in its own end, Harborfields (1-2-0) scored on a free kick from near midfield by senior defender Torin Washeim in the 35th minute.

"We were hoping that would give us momentum going into the second half," Harborfields coach DJ Greening said. "We just couldn't build on top of it; we couldn't find a away to string the passes together."

It was the first goal allowed by Glenn goalkeeper Kevin Flores this season in three games.

Glenn kept the pressure on in the second half and increased the lead to two goals when senior midfielder Matt Toich connected with senior defender Kevin Martocci on a free kick in the 51st minute.

"I saw [Martocci] in the box calling for the ball so I knew exactly where to put it," said Toich, who also assisted on Glenn's fourth goal by James Depace. "He did a good job of getting to the spot and putting the ball away."

Though Glenn is undefeated (3-0) Hanner knows he can get even more out of his team.

"I didn't think we played close to our talent and ability and potential," Hanner said. "Offensively we're not crisp, we're not making good decisions with the ball, we're not in sync yet, which I think is a positive because we don't want to be in sync now, we want to be in sync at the end of October.

"Obviously we're happy we're 3-0, but it's good that we can come back tomorrow and we've got a lot of things to work on."
