Braddish's OT winner lifts West Islip

Conor Braddish scored the winner from five yards out 1:12 into overtime to lift West Islip over Connetquot, 8-7, Tuesday in Division I boys lacrosse.

Tom Moore and Mike Sagl each had two goals and one assist, and Drew Federico added two goals for the Lions (2-0). Connetquot's Steve Compitello scored five goals.Hauppauge 10, Kings Park 3: Junior Chris Jacovino had a career-high seven points (three goals, four assists) for Hauppauge (2-1) in Division II.

Eastport-South Manor 7, Mount. Sinai 4: Ryan Curley had five goals and an assist for Eastport-South Manor (2-0) in Division II. Tyler Aki scored twice, Matt Prokesch had three assists and Robbie Sterberns had 15 saves. Matt Poillon had 11 saves for Mount Sinai.

Mineola 9, Glen Cove 8: Josh Lopes scored the winner off a feed from Spencer Wolf with 3:00 left in double overtime for Mineola in non-league. Matt Moro had 17 saves, including two point-blank stops in overtime.

West Hempstead 5, Herricks 4: Mike Castagna scored the winner off the first faceoff in overtime to lead West Hempstead (2-3) in non-league. Danny Sheeler scored three goals with an assist, including the tying goal with 4:57 left in regulation.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bay Shore 9, Hills East 8: Samantha Fagone, who finished with 13 saves, stopped a direct shot with a second left to secure the win for Bay Shore (3-0) in Division I. Kaitlyn Arnold, Kyra Harney and Catherine Schmidt each scored two goals.

West Islip 18, Sachem North 8:Lorraine Hodgson had seven goals and an assist and Loren Ziegler added four goals and four assists to lead West Islip (2-1) in Division I.

Ward Melville 16, Middle Country 7:Jess Liberty scored five goals for Ward Melville (3-0) in Division I. Rebecca Arent scored four goals with two assists, and Ally Tilley had three goals and an assist.

MacArthur 12, Herricks 8:Emily Powell had four goals and an assist for MacArthur (2-0) in A-II. Kristina Coiro had three goals and an assist.

South Side 15, Division 5: Sophomore Michaela Lynch had a career-high eight points (four goals, four assists) to lead South Side (1-0) in B-I.Locust Valley 13, Clarke 6: Bairre Reilly had five goals and two assists and Amanda Cirignano scored four goals to lead Locust Valley (4-0) in Conference C.

BASEBALL

St. John the Baptist 5, St. Mary's 2: Brendan McKnight allowed two hits, two walks and struck out six over six scoreless innings to lead St. John the Baptist (1-0) in CHSAA. Chris Gaffney, Joe Ferme and John Tenaglia each drove in a run. The game was dedicated to the late priest, Msgr. James Kissane, SJB athletic director Ralph Dalton said. The school has named its new turf field after Kissane.

East Rockaway 9, Malverne 2: David Hobbs went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run in the top of the third inning that gave East Rockaway (2-0) a 5-2 lead in Conference BC. Sophomore Billy Humes allowing two hits and struck out six in five scoreless innings to earn his first varsity win.
