Cusano throws no-no for Smithtown East
Justin Cusano made the most of his first varsity start yesterday.
The junior tossed a no-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts for Smithtown East in a 3-0 win over Centereach in Suffolk League III baseball. Smithtown East is 4-6.
Ward Melville 12, Longwood 6: Nick Nunziato went 3-for-4 with three home runs -- two three-run shots and one solo shot -- and finished with eight RBIs for Ward Melville (7-3) in League I.
SOFTBALL
Deer Park 1, Shoreham-Wading River 0: Lisa Bonacasa's one-out single scored pinch runner Megan Loeber in the top of the seventh for Deer Park (9-1) a League V-VI crossover. Loeber ran for Sam DeMarco, who led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ari Tedeschi.
BOYS GOLF
Babylon 7.5, Islip 1.5: Sam Zamet shot 1-under 35 and Cody Gross shot an even-par 36 on the Timber Point Red Course for Babylon (4-1) in League I.
