Roundup: Sagliocca, Sapienza lead Copiague girls
Natalina Sagliocca and Jenna Sapienza each scored in strokes as Copiague topped Greenport, 2-1, in strokes for only its third win since 1999 in Suffolk Division II field hockey yesterday.
Stephanie Fischer had nine saves for Copiague (1-13).
Sayville 2, Babylon 1: Madison Mills scored off a feed from Olivia Cabral in the second half as Sayville remained undefeated (15-0) in Division II. Mills’ goal gave Sayville a 2-0 lead. Julianna Fiorillo gave Sayville a 1-0 lead in the first half with a score off a pass from Shannon Litvin. Maggie Griffo scored early in the second to tie the score at 1 for Babylon.
East Islip 1, West Islip 0: Alex Martino scored off a cross by Courtney Bernardini with 21:49 left in the second half to lead East Islip (11-2) in Division II. Olivia Kelly had five saves for West Islip.
Bay Shore 6, Connetquot 0: Samantha Flood was one of six players to score to lead Bay Shore (10-3) in Division II. Courtney Syrett had three assists and Chelsea Lombardo had five saves in the win.
GIRLS TENNIS
Port Washington 6, Manhasset 1: Lauren Livingston defeated Nicole Koskovslis, 6-1, 2-6, 7-4, at first singles to lead No. 2 Port Washington (13-2) over No. 3 Manhasset in a Nassau semifinal on Friday. Port Washington will play the winner of No. 1 Syosset vs. No. 4 Roslyn in the final at 3 p.m. Monday at Garden City.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Carey 3, Valley Stream Central 1: Harry Smith had two aces, nine kills and 16 digs, Kelvin Yam had two aces, five kills, six digs and six blocks, and Jesse Bordeman had four aces, six aces, and four digs to lead Carey (7-3) in a 25-12, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21 Nassau Conference A-III win.
Great Neck North 3, New Hyde Park 0: Jake Shirian had eight kills and four blocks, Kevin Rahmanan had nine kills and 12 assists and Sam Katz had five kills and 10 blocks to lead Great Neck North (7-4) in a 25-15, 25-20, 25-22 win in Conference A-V.
