Nick Anzalone and Jeremy Ruckert connected on a 61-yard touchdown pass with 45 seconds left in the first half to help Lindenhurst roll to a 31-7 win over Northport in a Suffolk I opener on Saturday.

Ruckert had six catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns. His catch at the end of the half put Lindenhurst up 21-7. Anzalone completed 21 of 24 passes for 222 yards and three TDs. Ricky Conway, who had a 68-yard kickoff return, had 11 carries for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Commack 24, Whitman 0: Brendan McCaffery had two interceptions, including one for a 48-yard return for a touchdown in Commack’s opener. McCaffrey had 12 tackles and 112 all-purpose yards. Adam Ostrowski had two sacks and also recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.

Patchogue-Medford 48, Brentwood 7: Joey Collins ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries as Patchogue-Medford cruised in its Suffolk I opener. John Bullard completed 7 of 9 passes for 106 yards and four TDs. James Terribile recovered a blocked punt by George Francis to open the scoring, and later hauled in a 35-yard TD catch. Kurt Meier had two receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Ward Melville 41, Central Islip 0: Nick Messina had eight carries for 110 yards in the first half to lead Ward Melville in its Suffolk I opener. Peyton Capizzi, making his first varsity start, was 12-for-16 for 228 yards and two TDs. Nabeel Ahmed had four catches for 94 yards, including a 46-yard TD. J.J. Laap had two catches for 65 yards and a score. Laap returned an INT 48 yards for a score. Jimmy Small had seven tackles.
