Carter, Plant lead Huntington past Islip
T.J. Greenhill's interception at the Huntington 20-yard line with one minute left in the game sealed it for Huntington in a 35-32 win over Islip Saturday in Suffolk III football.
Quran Carter had 18 carries for 182 yards and two TDs, both in the third quarter to give Huntington (4-3) a 35-24 lead. Danny Plant was 5-for-5 for 170 yards and two touchdowns and had 13 carries for 174 yards and Greenhill had two receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Frank Caravetto had 14 tackles and a sack and Devon Nelson had seven tackles for Huntington. Islip is 4-3.
Miller Place 40, Bellport 18: Alex Greenidge had three receptions for 101 yards and a rushing touchdown and had 14 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery to lead Miller Place (5-2). Matt Hinchy completed 9 of 13 for 185 yards and a TD. Hinchy ran for 91 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Brett Osman had 74 yards on 13 carries and a score. James Nielsen added seven tackles and a 60-yard TD on a fumble recovery. Bellport is 3-4.
Kings Park 42, Rocky Point 0: Senior Dominic Montemurro had career highs with 29 carries for 179 yards and four touchdowns for Kings Park (4-3). Joe Guercio went 7 of 13 for 77 yards and added a two-point conversion. Mike Thorne had five tackles and Guercio added a 43-yard interception return for a score. Rocky Point is 1-6.
Eastport-South Manor 13, Harborfields 12: Garret Bavosa had a touchdown reception and added nine tackles and a blocked kick to lead Eastport-South Manor (3-4). Cole Zeller returned an interception 13 yards for a score with 11:49 left in the fourth quarter to give Eastport-South Manor a 13-6 lead. After Connor Coyle scored on a 4-yard run with 6:59 left, Dave Laugerra deflected the pass attempt on the two-point conversion to preserve the lead. With 23 seconds left, Harborfields (3-4) attempted a fake field goal, but Bavosa sacked the quarterback. Mike Bianco and Tom Marone led with 13 tackles and Matt Moore and Sean Karl added 12 tackles each.
Sayville 41, Comsewogue 21: Steven Ferreira threw five touchdown passes for Sayville (7-0). Tom Hannan caught touchdown passes of 8 and 32 yards in the first quarter. Tom Dieckhoff caught touchdown receptions of 27 and 3 yards in the second quarter. Comsewogue is 3-4.
