Cook, Commack romp past Central Islip
Brandon Cook rushed for 101 yards on six carries, with three TDs and added a 30-yard fumble recovery for a TD to lead Commack to a 45-12 win over Central Islip yesterday in Suffolk I football. Cook had eight tackles, including four for a loss, and three sacks. Mike Karaolis had eight tackles and a sack for Commack (2-0). Central Islip is 0-2.
Ward Melville 30, Brentwood 20: Leading by 10 with three minutes left, Ward Melville's Justin Joseph intercepted a pass on his own 5-yard line to end a Brentwood drive. Frank Lucatourto rushed for 130 yards on 15 carries with two TDs and Brendon Hegarty rushed for 117 yards on 20 carries with two TDs for Ward Melville (1-1). Brentwood is 1-1.
West Islip 36, Connetquot 0: Mike Cestaro rushed for 124 yards on 15 carries with a TD for West Islip (2-0). Anthony Santo went 4-for-8 passing for 95 yards and a TD. Mike Anaboli had eight tackles and James Murphy blocked a punt for West Islip. Connetquot is 0-2.
Sachem North 42, Northport 25: Brothers Dalton and Trent Crossan had career rushing performances, combining for 365 yards and six TDs for Sachem North (2-0) Friday night. Dalton, a senior, had 22 carries for a career-high 210 yards and four TDs and Trent, a sophomore, had 18 carries for 155 yards and two TDs. Dalton also had seven tackles and an interception, Trent had six tackles and a fumble recovery and Vinny Fragale had seven tackles and a sack. Northport is 0-2.
Lindenhurst 7, Patchogue-Medford 6: David Fowler scored on a 1-yard run with four minutes left in the game to win it for Lindenhurst (1-1). Josh Stewart had 10 tackles and one sack in the win. Patchogue-Medford is 0-2.
Sachem East 26, Bay Shore 18: Steven Casali's 20-yard TD run with eight minutes left in the game gave Sachem East (2-0) a 26-10 lead. Casali had 110 yards and three TDs on 18 carries and Joe Ryan added 60 yards on six carries.
